RICCARDO SIRONI - THOUGHT
A basketball court, a cement rectangle, a place that is both simple and incredible at once. A white sheet that has been colored with multiple ‘indelible markers’, which will fill up with ink as they write on it instead of running out. Despite the fact that markers wear out over time, they recharge themselves every time they touch the paper, resulting in better writing day after day.
The only basketball court where I can forget the negativity I feel outside that rectangle in certain moments. The one place that gives me the chance to reflect alone in peace or share my thoughts with Friends, and assists me in overcoming the obstacles and challenging circumstances in my life. This is where I review today’s society in all its forms.
The court make us feel connected, get us out of our chains of thought and to a place where you can feel harmony. You can feel a break from the questioning and just be. And you can try to make sense of the meaning of that later. We only have one life, so I think it’s important to not just let it pass us by. There is so much beauty around us, which changes constantly, if you don’t catch it, you might miss something amazing.
I am surrounded by lights yet hidden in darkness, surrounded by people yet standing alone. I see the quiet moments I depict as gems, as opportunities to pause and reflect. The photographs I publish are not particularly stunning or spectacular, yet they allow the reader to examine that moment and appreciate the smallest details that would otherwise go unnoticed.
This is a Story that should be visual.
The power we have to ultimately make our decisions about who we want to be.
