The book takes a close look at the philosophy that surrounds us in Sport. We discuss our approach to fear and the methods we use to overcome anxiety.
What goes on in the mind of another person. Rather than taking the perspective of another person, ask them. The most accurate insight into the thoughts, words, beliefs, and opinions of someone else come from asking them to describe what’s going on in their minds in a context where they can report it both honestly and accurately. If you are wondering about someone’s opinion, stop guessing, ask directly and listen. How we interpret someone’s opinion often reflects more about ourselves than the person who expressed the opinion. But we don’t realize it. Our interpretation becomes the ‘truth’ and we lose our ability to be curious about it. We get swept up in our narrative and focus on the antagonist of the story rather than ourselves.
